All Singers Welcome
for St. Helens Church Choir at Christmas
You might think it is early but we start Choir practice early for Christmas lots to rehearse.
St Helen’s Church is a fantastic place to sing. The choir is inviting all singers of 8 years and above, male and female to sing with us at Christmas. Families will be especially welcome. Last year’s singing was fantastic, but each year we strive to improve. If you can sing a carol then please join our friendly crew. You all will be most welcome.
Our practising culminates in the Nine Lessons and Carols Service which will be on Sunday the 22nd December and will include traditional carols such as ‘O Come all ye faithful and Away in a manger.’ The choir will sing other pieces, old and new as well.
We will be also Carol Singing around the parish at Christmas, which is always good traditional Festive fun!
I, Paul the organist will be leading the rehearsal. Our main aim is to ensure that people have fun rehearsing.
Practices are usually weekly from 7.15 pm to approx. 8.45 pm at St Helens Church, Churchtown, please check day and dates before coming.

POSADA
Posada is an old Mexican tradition where young people dressed as Mary and Joseph travelled from house to house asking for a room for the night and telling people about the imminent arrival of Jesus in the weeks leading up to Christmas. On Christmas Eve, they would visit the local church to re-enact the nativity and place figures of Mary and Joseph in a crib.
Modern day (like ours) Posada uses the knitted nativity figures who travel from place to place. This gives each ‘host’ the chance to create their own celebration in their home, worshipping and with the real message of Christmas, making room for Jesus in their lives.
I hope that we can all enjoy watching the nativity figures journey around our parish through Advent. As we come together on Christmas Eve to celebrate the placing the figures in the crib.
Remember the Crib and Figure are the smaller version and easier to handles.
If you wish to host our posada, we have a list going around, school soon, so ask or look out for the list, join in the journey of Mary and Joseph as they travel around our parish
